Darren Critchely in the Rockies

Darren Critchleys

A Week or Two in The Rockies

We've been looking at holiday locations for a few weeks now and if you're married you know how this generally goes - and for those of you who aren't married lets just say it's a good reason not to get married :-)
One of the things that makes it easy to sell a holiday to your partner (or friends) is the production of some inspiring material about the place you'd like to visit.
Ordinarily this comes in the form of a brochure, they show you all the really good stuff - that costs a fortune, and none of the everyday items that actually make it worth while visiting the place (anyone can go to disney, it takes a little more character to go a little way down the road less traveled).
So the thing we really liked about this book is that it's written by a guy who's spent his life visiting the Rockies, he's actually done pretty much everything that's in the book and he's put a wealth of information in there that really takes the learning curve out of the trip.
One thing that this book does have in common with the brochures is the picture content - this book has some truly awesome pictures of the places that Darren's talking about.
So whether it's for reference or to help you choose a holiday location this book gets a thumbs up from us.

30 Word Scramble Puzzles

Next Up - Sussim Elzzup.

World Sports: 30 Word Scramble Puzzles

We spoke to Sussim this week and took a look at her new book 30 Word Scramble Puzzles - we were quite suprised.
We had expected something that was kind of easy and not very taxing but instead we found something that did actually require us to think (oh the horror!).

Once we'd been at it for a while the normal competitive spirits came out.
So all in all we liked it, this is the kind of thing that you could weel out at your next dinner party as the after dinner 'shut up the smart arse' piece.

First Book Review

Eric Charlton's Brain Food - 15 Foods Thatr Make a Difference to Your Brain and How They Work.

We caught up with Eric this week to talk to him about his new book Brain Food (15 Foods that make a difference and how they work) which is not yet published but will be avilable via Amazon for the Kindle in the next few days.
We started by asking Eric to describe his book.
Eric explained that he had always been fascinated by the human body and had had many problems with his own weight and diet. After spending time with doctors and dieticians he decided to do some of his own research and this is the result of that.

We've obviously seen the book but for our readers the basic jist is this:
Eric has identified 15 different foods that deliver a benefit to our health
He's then found out exactly how the benefit is delivered and what results this has

Now for those of you who have ever wondered how the brain works and how food effects our mood, addiction or your ability to stay focused this is the book for you.

Eric has put some really descriptive work together that goes as far as explaining how the brain uses certain chemicals and then goes right down to describe the reactions that this causes and how it effects the brain and body - and interestingly enough he also explains why it is that these reactions may also be stopping you losing weight or why it is you always feel tired.
It is however written in a manner that even we understood and has pictures. :-)

And we're off!

So we've decided that we're going to put in place a blog where new authors can show case their work.
We'll be reviewing a number of the pieces and also having some in depth commentary from different authors.

If you are a budding author and have something that you'd like to publish get in touch (although we do reserve the right not to publish on topics that we deem offensive).
